LITERARY WINDOW PROJECT

Why windows?

Following a discussion with long-time supporters of the Ruth Stone House, several mentioned interest in donating the funds necessary to purchase and install a new replacement window at the Ruth Stone House. The existing windows have single pane glass, many missing storm windows (or never had them) with rotting exterior wood. A number of the windows upstairs are not the size or type appropriate to function as egress windows, as is necessary for bedrooms.

What Your Donation Provides

You can select an available window in need of replacement. Your donation will cover the material cost of the window AND the labor necessary to install it. We have consulted with our local contractor, TJL Construction, who has provided a per-window labor price for the installation of each window. We have worked with R.K. Miles in Middlebury to select appropriate replacement windows and obtain pricing. A number of these windows are custom-sized, which is slightly more expensive than the base model (by about $100 per window) but saves a significant amount of money in terms of labor.

How You Shall be Thanked

Upon receiving your window donation, we will send a special thank you broadside exclusive to window donors. You will also have the opportunity to include a message of your choosing on a small brass plaque that will be attached to the window you donate. You may wish to dedicate the window in memory of someone, include a few favorite lines of Ruth’s poetry, or simply state who made the donation! See the mockup example below.
