“Do not forget that a poem, although it is composed in the language of information,

is not used in the language-game of giving information.”

-Ludwig Wittgenstein

In this class, we will be workshopping our poems as well as reading inspiring works by others. This is a class to improve your poetry writing and poetry reading skills. We will be leaving our comfort zones, both in language and in thought. I will serve as a guide to your own discoveries and honor each student’s interests and ideas while challenging you to think more deeply about the choices and habits in your writing practice.

This is a workshop and craft class. We will be reading fun, beautiful, and motivating works, leaving ample time to write and discuss our own poems. Students are expected to write new work (six poems), radically revise, participate in in-class writing, read secondary materials, and join the discussion. You will leave this class a stronger writer.
